New Year’s Resolutions For Your Home

It is now officially 2023 and most are working on their New Year’s Resolutions. A list of resolutions in the new year is a set of goals we set to work on and better ourselves, so why not work on our household as well? Here are some interior design ideas to add to your list of New Year”s Resolutions.

Find Your StyleLiving room photo - minimalistic with gray and pink accents

Make it a 2023 New Year’s Resolution to find your style! Which side of the spectrum are you on when it comes to color? Are you a fan of neutral, are you bold and embrace the color, or are you in the middle and enjoy neutral colors with a pop of color? Focus this year on finding your style with your decor. If you have 1 or 2 or even more rooms you can’t quite figure out why you don’t love it, figure out why. Is it boring, is it overwhelming, does it have too much color or not enough? If you want to be bold with your interior design it may require you to get out of your comfort zone. The trends are easy to get inspiration from, but follow your heart and your gut when you like something to make it your own.

Your Design Aesthetic

Trends are changing all the time, and there is pressure to follow trends from time to time. Grey walls were a really big trend, and now most are painting over those grey walls with bright and bold colors. On the other side of the spectrum, neutrals are also trendy. There is a wide range to choose from to be able to pull inspiration from to make your home a representation of you. This year nail down your design aesthetic. Look around your home and figure out what your favorite design choices are and build from there. In no time, you’ll be able to accurately determine your style and find more pieces to fit into it.

Declutter

Work on decluttering and organizing this year, and make it a New Year’s resolution. Get rid of things you don’t use often or at all and are dust collecting. Organize the items you need and use and make them convenient to be used. Find ways to use decor as organizational decor. Create extra space for storage to store necessary clutter to get it out of the way but easy to access.

Test Out DecorPhoto of living area with vibrant colors

Up your decor game, and don’t be afraid to experiment. You want your decor to have varying looks and textures to help bring the room together. This year devote some time to finding some throw pillows, lighting, throw blankets, rugs, and functional decor such as baskets. You can use decor to add pops of color

Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle

Don’t forget to reduce, reuse, and recycle. As the years go by this becomes more and more important. Before throwing away a piece of furniture or decor figure out if it can be repurposed somehow. Many organizations are taking eco-friendly avenues. Select products that invest in energy-conserving methods and reclaimed resources.
